The EU blue card application procedure is an additional path for companies who wish to recruit a non-EU highly skilled migrant (expat) to the Netherlands. Unlike the highly skilled migrant visa application procedure , the EU blue card application enables companies to relocate their workers to the Netherlands without being a recognized sponsor by the IND.

Most frequent questions about EU blue card visa application

Yes, every company and organization registered in The Netherlands can relocate a highly skilled migrant as long as they comply with the EU Blue Card conditions

The company recruiting the highly skilled migrant has to fulfil the following conditions:

  • A clean record of 5 years prior to the EU blue card application with no prior sanctions for violating article 2 the Foreign Nationals Employment Act (Wav).
  • A clean record of 5 years prior to the EU blue card application with no prior sanctions for paying insufficient wage taxes or employee and for not paying national insurance contributions.

The highly skilled migrant has to stand in the following conditions before applying to the EU blue card procedure:

  • Highly Educated – The Highly skilled migrant completed at least a degree from university of applied science (HBO) with a minimal duration of 3 years of study.
    The diploma has to be evaluated by the Nuffic. INLS will manage this as part of the EU blue card application.

  • Salary– The salary criteria by the IND for highly skilled migrant applying for the EU blue card application stands on €5.567 brutto monthly salary.

Every highly skilled migrant who is residing in the country of origin needs an mvv, except for citizens of the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.

Yes, we will make sure the highly skilled migrant will receive a MVV by the IND as part of the EU blue card application.

No, with the EU blue card application it is not a must to be a a recognized sponsor.

The EU blue card procedure usually takes no longer than 5 weeks for non-recognized companies. For recognized sponsors, the procedure usually takes up to two weeks.

Keep in mind that the IND has a legal term of 3 months to issue a decision.

As an employer you must oversee that the salary is always guaranteed and paid to the EU blue card holder. You’re also responsible that the EU blue card holder always works within the company. If the EU blue card holder resigns from the job, you as an employer need to notify us immediately so we can start the de-registration process.

The costs for the de-registration procedure are €150 exclusive of the VAT costs.

 

The IND fees for the EU blue card application are €320.
For Turkish citizens €69.
Citizens from Israel and San Marino are exempt from paying the fees.

The EU blue card is valid for a maximum of four years, in the case of an indefinite contract or a contract of four years. Afterwards the EU blue card is extendable.

 

Yes, it is possible to bring your partner / kids along with you to The Netherlands.
INLS will manage the application for your partner (Partner of a Dutch residence permit holder service) and kids (Family member of a Dutch residence permit holder service).

Yes, INLS also manages the 30% ruling application. Our costs for the 30% application are €450,- exclusive of the VAT costs.
