Most frequent questions about Highly skilled migrant visa application

The salary criteria by the IND for the highly skilled migrant application in The Netherlands stands on:

  • Highly skilled migrant who is younger than 30 years old: €3.484 brutto monthly salary.
  • Highly skilled migrant who is 30 years old or older: €4.752 brutto monthly salary.
  • Highly skilled migrant with an academic degree (bachelor, master or PhD) who found a job as a highly skilled migrant within three years from the graduation date: €2.497 brutto monthly salary.

The company recruiting the highly skilled migrant has to fulfil the following conditions:

  • A clean record of 5 years prior to the EU blue card application with no prior sanctions for violating article 2 the Foreign Nationals Employment Act (Wav).
  • A clean record of 5 years prior to the highly skilled visa application with no prior sanctions for paying insufficient wage taxes or employee and for not paying national insurance contributions.

The highly skilled migrant has to stand in the following conditions before applying to the highly skilled migrant visa application:

  • Highly Educated – The Highly skilled migrant completed at least a degree from university of applied science (HBO) with a minimal duration of 3 years of study.
    The diploma has to be evaluated by the Nuffic. INLS will manage this as part of the highly skilled migrant application.

  • Salary– The salary criteria by the IND for highly skilled migrant applying for the highly skilled migrant application stands on €5.567 brutto monthly salary.

Every highly skilled migrant who is residing in the country of origin needs an mvv, except for citizens of the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.

Yes, we will make sure the highly skilled migrant will receive a MVV by the IND as part of the  application.

Yes, INLS also manages the 30% ruling application. Our costs for the 30% application are €450,- exclusive of the VAT costs.

The highly skilled migrant application usually takes no longer than 5 weeks for non-recognized companies. For recognized sponsors, the procedure usually takes up to two weeks.

Keep in mind that the IND has a legal term of 3 months to issue a decision.

As an employer you must oversee that the salary is always guaranteed and paid to the Highly skilled migrant visa holder. You’re also responsible that the Highly skilled migrant visa holder always works within the company. If the Highly skilled migrant visa holder resigns from the job, you as an employer need to notify us immediately so we can start the de-registration process.

The costs for the de-registration procedure are €150 exclusive of the VAT costs.

If you provide us with the required documents, INLS will apply and take everything over from there.

as a sponsor you must oversee;

  • that the salary is always guaranteed and paid to the highly skilled migrant;
  • You’re also responsible that the highly skilled migrant always works as a highly skilled migrant within the company;
  • If the highly skilled migrant resigns from the job, you as a sponsor need to notify us immediately so we can start the deregistration process.

The costs for the deregistration procedure are €150 exclusive of the VAT costs.

The IND fees are €320 and €69 for Turkish citizens. Citizens from Israel and San Marino are exempted from paying the fees.

Aside from the salary criterium, the salary has to be competitive. If the IND is doubting the competitiveness of the salary, they will request the UWV for an advice with regards to the competitiveness of the salary. The UWV will usually issue an advice within six weeks. Given our experience at the highly skilled migrant unit within the IND, INLS knows where the IND is basing their doubts with regards to the competitiveness of the salary on.
